Bethan’s Pond Plants

A list of the plant that Bethan put into her pond (with a little help from Del the dog!)
- Ceratophyllum - this oxygenates the water. Very important!
- Water Lily - to stop algae growing, 1/3 of the surface of the pond needs to be covered with plants. The Water Lily is great for doing this job!
- Iris
- Bog Bean - Beautiful white flowers with white spikes on the petals.
- Water forget-me-not - Hassle free!
- Water Soldier
- Houttuynia cordata ‘Chamelion’ - rubbing the leaves gives off an orage-peel smell.
- Typha latifolia - Flowers at the end of summer. Can grow to 8 feet. It mus be cut back now and again or it will take over the pond.
- Nuphar lueta - called ‘Brandy Bottle’ because of its shape.
- Monkey Flower (Mimulus) - Can be orange, yellow, cream and red. The heads must be pulled off after they have finished flowering.
